WHO AM I?

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in clinical massage, Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), Complete Decongestion Therapy (CDT), and Comfort Touch. I graduated from IBMC in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 2014, with a 4.0 and immediately passed both the mBLEX and NCETMB licensures. The next few years were spent learning the ropes in different chiropractic clinics—one holistic, the other insanely busy. In May of 2019, I upgraded to Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, through Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy. In June of 2019, I enjoyed an internship at TurningPoint Lymphedema Clinic & Consulting in Eugene, Oregon, under John Beckwith, PT, CLT-LANA. I was just about to open a lymphedema clinic in Cheyenne, WY, immediately following this, but … Covid-19 entirely canceled that. I spent the next four years at Ohana Chiropractic Clinic offering decongestion, MLD, and clinical massage, which put me at 10 years. It was time for another upgrade, and the Grouchy Ouchy was born.

TECHNIQUES:

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)—Skin drainage, gentle pressure (affected area or full body). Light skin stretching for post-surgical edema, reduce swelling and/or water retention, ease swollen lymph nodes (after infection), or to simply flush toxins from the body (yes, that actually works). It can even be used to slim down before vacation, photo op, or weddings. MLD is also helpful for post-traumatic / injury edema, comfort and pain relief, intracranial pressure reduction, and palliative care. *Contraindications to MLD: Cellulitis, cardiac or renal insufficiency, ascites, unstable hypertension, tuberculosis or malaria, blood clotting, thyroid dysfunction, metastases.

Complete Decongestion Therapy (CDT)—Skin drainage technique designed to reroute trapped lymphatic fluid from swollen limbs (lymphedema), go around damaged lymph nodes, and drain fluid toward healthy lymph beds to allow reduction of affected area. After reduction, compression will immediately resume. *Though I am certified in Complete Decongestion Therapy, I do not offer lymphedema management services or garment consultation, only fluid reduction.

Whole Body Massage—Light, medium, or firm touch. A restorative technique that restores functionality, boosts healing, and eases muscle aches and pains—not to be confused with spa relaxation massage. I haven’t ever worked in a spa, my certifications are all medical. My style is tailored more toward muscle work and restoration rather than pamper, and my technique is typically painless. My deeper work is usually very comfortable and quite effective. I do not offer damaging, whole-body deep tissue ‘beatings.’

Focused Massage—Deeper, focused work (not full body). Muscle Strain, Injury, Spasm, Headache, Neck Pain from Whiplash, Crick, Stiffness, Low Back and Knees, Frozen Shoulder, Torticollis, Trauma Pain Relief, Repetitive Use Damage (Hand/Forearm), Low Back Pain, Sciatica, and/or Trigger Points. Numerous modalities applied to encourage healing.

Comfort Touch—Gentle or firm, light touch compression (up to full body). For fragile, ill, traumatized, or end-of-life patients, comfort touch can ease pain and suffering, fear, loneliness, and the emotional discomfort of traumatic injury or passing. It can help to restore a sense of safety and belonging, enhance sleep quality and prevent bed sores. Abdominal massage can aid in digestion, and nerve stroke can relieve extreme pain. Families often struggle to connect with loved ones during these times, and massage can help. I am happy to show family and caregivers how to provide touch comfort so they don’t have to rely on my services.

ON-THE-GO SERVICES:

For On-The-Go service, 6’ x 10’ area is required for table and workspace with quick setup and exit. If able, please provide two clean sheets, a towel, and a pillowcase. I will bring gel and a table. This service is for established clients and word-of-mouth referrals post careful screening.
